Children know what is good for them
If we look carefully and realise that everything children do makes sense, then we see that their own particular rhythms and rituals are an expression of their goals and needs. This knowledge is innate in every child and we must protect it so that it is not destroyed.
If the 7-year-old boy is a wonderful dancer, but is not yet very good in arithmetic, then we should be capable of realising that he is learning at his own pace, in his own rhythm. And that the 2-year-old girl who wants to eat nothing but pasta is not being stubborn, but is simply following her own ritual.
