Elliot and Isabella and the Pursuit of the Sparkling Gem

Children's Book

The little rat boy Elliot and his courageous friend Isabella stumble from one rat adventure into the next in their attempt to escape Bocky Bockwurst’s clutches. Smelly Sam, a sewage rat, is part of the group, and he is always willing to do anything…

Bruno is a bear – and an idiot, for he not only swallowed his cream puffs, but unfortunately also a very small and very precious gemstone. Soon he is being pursued by the following crowd: The terrible tomcat Shredder, king of all roofs, Bocky Bockwurst & gang and – Elliot and Isabella, who go through all kinds of danger to warn Bruno. It often gets pretty risky, but in the end they all make it safely – with the help of Smelly Sam and his convertible. In the end it again goes to show you that cleverness, courage, humor and friendship are the key to surviving almost every adventure.

A wonderful story about friendship, with illustrations that even make rat tales look irresistably lovable. Brigitte Extra

Siegner’s unmistakable protagonists need not fear competition with the rat, mole, badger and co. from Graham’s Wind in the Willows. Alliterations and poems are used in an offhand manner by the author to arouse children’s interest in puns and creativity. By the way, his illustrations are also enough to make you fall in love with them. Eselsohr
