Real Cowboys

Summer heat in Munich. Cosmo’s mother falls into a coma after attempting suicide. Cosmo may have to go to a children’s home – he wants to get away, but where to go? Then he meets Nathalie and Tom. The two are on their own somehow. Suddenly Cosmo finds himself at the lake, flirting with Nathalie. And Tom is also giving his best. That doesn’t make his actual situation any better. It is rough and also very sad. But at the end of the summer there is a special bond between the three of them – they never would have thought that.

Stephan Knösel’s describes the inner lives of his characters in an unpretentious, lively style and with a keen sense of observation, creating an authentic image of how three mavericks survive, and at the same time, of the attitude of a whole generation towards life.

Cosmo: cool underdog, his mother in a coma, father gone
Nathalie: beautiful, privileged, homesick for Marseille
Tom: the biggest joke at school, only friend is his fighting dog
