Andreas Büscher, RN, PhD, is Professor of Nursing Science at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, Germany, and member of the Faculty for Health at Witten/Herdecke University. He is the academic leader of the German Network for Quality Development in Nursing (DNQP). Dr Büscher got his PhD from Tampere University, Finland. His thesis addressed the relationship between formal and informal care in home care arrangements. Prior to his professorship he served as research fellow at the Institute of Nursing Science at Witten/Herdecke University and the Institute of Nursing Science at Bielefeld University, Germany. In this capacity he was involved in the foundational work for the re-definition of eligibility criteria within the German long-term care system. His main areas of work are home and community care, quality development in nursing, and long-term care systems.
Christine Dunger, RN, PhD is a research associate at the Witten/Herdecke University, Faculty of Health, Department of Human Medicine and an Assistant Professor at the Paracelsus Medical University (PMU) Salzburg, Institute for Nursing Science and Practice. She is the deputy head of the PhD program at the Institute for Nursing Science and Practice (PMU). As a registered nurse, she completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Witten/Herdecke University. During this time, she received a scholarship from the Stiftung der Deutschen Wirtschaft (sdw). As a research associate, she worked on several projects funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). She wrote her PhD thesis on clinical-ethical decision-making and its organizational ethical conditions. She is co-editor of the book series Palliative Care and Research, the journal Pflegen: Palliativ and chairwoman of the ethics committee of the German Society for Nursing Science. Her focus is on Ethics and Ethical Decision Making, End of Life Care Research Ethics, Philosophy of Science and Qualitative Research Methods. With the desire to broadly discuss socially relevant topics and research methods in nursing science, she has been supporting the editorial board of Pflege & Gesellschaft since 2017.
Prof Dr Inge Eberl is Professor of Nursing Science at the Faculty of Social Work at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt and Head of the Institute of Nursing Science at the hospital of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University(LMU) Munich, Germany. She has been Dean of the Faculty since 2023 and Chair of the German Society for Nursing Science since 2021.She completed her doctorate at the Faculty of Health at Witten/Herdecke University. In her dissertation, she focussed on the transfer of the Belgian Nursing Minimum Data Set II (B-NMDS II) to German hospitals. In addition to her work as a nursing scientist at the hospital of the LMU University Munich., she was a research fellow at the Institute of Nursing Science at the University of Witten/Herdecke. Prof Dr Inge Eberl worked as a registered nurse for 20 years, including 16 years as an intensive care nurse.Her research interests include the establishment of evidence-based nursing practice in acute care settings, minimum nursing data sets, digital and technological systems in nursing, development of complex interventions as well as implementation- and evaluation research.
Juliane Falk holds 1st and 2nd state examination in the subjects social sciences and educational science. She is responsible for numerous book publications and contributions to collections on nursing education and nursing management. She used to be the leader of a nursing school and is qualified in quality management and enterprise communications. Juliane Falk leads the editorial office.
Ulrike Höhmann, Univ.-Prof. Dr. rer. medic.,M.A., RN, Senior Professor at the Private University of Witten/Herdecke, Department of Medicine. Her background is interdisciplinary: As a registered nurse she graduated in Social Sciences, Psychology and Political Sciences (M.A.) from the University of Freiburg/Br. While gaining different research experience in several positions and institutions, she continuously prioritized on health subjects. Since she became director of the Agnes Karll-Institute of Nursing Research in 1993, her scientific focus stayed on the conditions of professionalization, the development of nursing science and (clinical) practice as well as the management of chronic illness in multidisciplinary contexts. As a Professor of Nursing Science and Research at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences in Darmstadt, she built up different academic programs in Nursing Science and intensified her research on multidisciplinarity in nursing. When she subsequently was called to the University Chair for „Multidisciplinary Care for People with Chronic Illness“ at the Private University of Witten/Herdecke, she developed a Multiprofessional Masters Program for Care in Dementia and Chronic Illness, supported by grants of the Robert Bosch-Foundation. Research topics then expanded to contingencies of transdisciplinarity in learning, teaching and practice in health care. With the intention to promote social contextualisation in publications on nursing science, research and practice, she has been supporting the editorial board from the beginning.
Prof. Dr. Annett Horn, Professor of Public Health Nursing at FH Münster University of Applied Sciences, Germany. She studied nursing science at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences and completed her doctorate at Witten/Herdecke University. She worked as a registered nurse for over ten years. She has been Professor of Public Health Nursing at Münster University of Applied Sciences since 2020. Her research focus is "Healthy Ageing". She deals with concepts for prevention and health promotion in old age in home and inpatient care. Her particular focus is on promoting physical activity, promoting oral health and strengthening health literacy - the focus is on patients, people in need of care, family cargivers and nursing staff.
Manfred Hülsken-Giesler, Univ.-Prof. Dr. phil., RN is Professor of Nursing Science at the University of Osnabrueck, Germany. He graduated in Nursing Science, in Social Science and in Paedagogic at the University of Bremen and got his doctoral degree from the University of Osnabrueck. His research focuses on digitisation in nursing and nursing education, futurology and theory development in nursing. In those focus areas he overseas numerous projects; most recently he coordinated the meta-project "Robotics for nursing" for the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Key results from this funding line are currently being published internationally. Hülsken-Giesler was a member of the expert commission “Eighth Government Report: Older People and Digitisation“.
Prof. Dr. Julia Lademann has been Professor at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences for Nursing Science and Health Sciences since 2013. Her key topics are professionalization and academization of the nursing profession in Germany. She deals with qualitative nursing research in the field of home care, especially high-tech home care / hospital at home, the roles and perspectives of informal caregivers as well as the building of professional relationships between nurses, patients and their family. In the field of Public Health she deals with health promotion and prevention by and for nurses; furthermore she is working on the topics of "women's health" and "gender and health". She has been working as a registered nurse for about 15 years and has degrees in biology and health sciences. She is co-editor and author of a series of textbooks for nursing studies in Germany.
Prof. Dr. Andrea Schiff, Dr. rer medic.,RN has been Professor for Nursing Science at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences of Nordrhein-Westphalia, Germany since 2007. She graduated in Nursing at the Witten/Herdecke University, Faculty of Health, Department of Human Medicine. Her key topics are Family-Oriented Care, Elderly Care and Nursing Ethics. She is co-editor and author of textbooks and journals for nursing and interprofessional topics in Germany.
Prof. Dr. Stefan Schmidt, Professor of Clinical Nursing with a focus on nursing and care concepts in the Department of Health, Nursing, Management at the Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences, is a trained nursing specialist with many years of practical experience in outpatient and inpatient care settings. He studied nursing management and health and nursing sciences and received his doctorate in these fields. Prof. Schmidt is vice dean, chairman of the ethics committee at the Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences and a member of the board of the German Society for Care and Case Management (DGCC). He is also an appointed member of the Health Commission Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania a federal state in Germany.
Prof. Dr. Renate Stemmer has been Professor for Nursing Science and Nursing Management at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences Mainz, Germany since 2000. During this time, she held various positions. Among other things, she was Dean of the Faculty of Health Care and Nursing for around 10 years and was responsible for the development of Bachelor's and Master's programmes. She is a member of various professional and health policy committees at federal and state level. Her research focuses on the interface between nursing science and nursing management. Her research combines clinical, organisational and structural aspects. The aim of her research is to improve the quality of patient care and to support the development of professional nursing. She conducts research in the field of task shifting according to the principle: the right person in the right place. She is also an expert in the implementation of Advanced Practice Nursing in primary healthcare with a focus on patients with multimorbidity and chronic neurological conditions. In these processes, the development of professional interdisciplinary collaboration is one main point of her interest. She publishes in national and international journals. Prof. Dr. Renate Stemmer is the current managing editor.
