Der methodologische Nationalismus der Sozialen Arbeit in Deutschland

Zusammenfassung

Die Transnational Studies haben gezeigt, dass die meisten Sozialwissenschaften implizit davon ausgehen, dass die Nation und der Nationalstaat das quasi-natürliche Ordnungsprinzip der sozialen Welt sind. Theorien der Sozialen Arbeit in Deutschland folgen typischerweise einem Konstruktionsprinzip, das diesem methodologischen Nationalismus Vorschub leistet. Eine wissenschaftssoziologisch-reflexive Perspektive kann dabei die Gründe für diese Verengung aufdecken. Da Wissenschaft im Zusammenspiel von Akteuren aus Staat, Profession und Disziplin hergestellt wird, entsteht ein wissenschaftliches Feld, in dem nationalstaatlich orientierte Problemdefinitionen und Lösungsansätze die Theoriebildung Sozialer Arbeit und ihre Forschung implizit bestimmen. -- Transnational Studies have shown that mainstream social sciences understand the nation and nation-states as quasi-natural forms of the social world. Theories of social work in Germany are typically constructed in a way that this methodological nationalism is also confirmed in social work discourse. A reflexive sociology of science can uncover the reasons of this nationally-restricted perspective: as the academic field of social work is formed within an interplay of different actors - the state, the profession and the discipline - the description of social problems and their treatment are geared to the nation-state and its institutions. This affects social work as an academic discipline and its research agendas and outcomes. --
